
Ballet energy for kids
(Balettienergiaa lapsille)
Balettienergiaa lapsille (Ballet energy for kids) is a community project that educates kids on the art of classical ballet and encourages them to dance.
The goal of the project is to give each child in Finland an equal opportunity to experience and enjoy ballet.
The Balettienergiaa lapsille -workshop consist of a ballet performance and interactive education session. The performance is based on the story of Nutcracker and the Mouse King and is presented by professional dancers. The educational session includes trying out ballet pantomime, basic elements of ballet technique (basic positions, piruettes, arabesques, jumps and leaps, partnering) and learning about different departments and professionals of the Opera and Ballet house.
The workshop is targeted for 6-8 year-olds and is facilitated through engaging storytelling and games.
The three year long project has visited over 200 schools all around Finland and engaged with over 6000 first-graders from Inari to Åland islands.
